About CFA
This is Central Freshman Academy's eighth year! I could use this space to tell you a lot of facts and stories about the building and its faculty and staff, but you just need to experience it yourself to fully understand it. The question we get asked most by upcoming freshman is this, "WHY are the ninth graders separated from the sophomores, juniors, and seniors?" Here are some of your teachers' best answers:
10. Entering high school is tough.
9. New hormones have got ya crazy!
8. Let's just say that the maturity levels of freshmen need a little tweaking.
7. It's truly easier to work on the responsibility level of 450 of you at once, rather than trying to mix you into a group of another 1200 to do it (believe it or not).
6. We give you one less class on your schedule. Surveys show that this is only disappointing to 1% of freshmen.
5. We help you understand everything you need to master to be completely successful in the coming three years.
4. Our teachers are so awesome, and the upperclassmen just don't deserve them; only YOU do!
3. None of your prior years counted toward your grade point average. This one does! Every grade in every class counts. Whew! That's a big change.
2. CFA points you toward the same responsibilities and expectations of the high school in small doses.
1. It has been statistically proven that freshman year is the single greatest indicator of future success, and we want you to have the greatest opportunity to graduate high school and become a valuable, contributing member of society! That's pretty important, I might add.

To be a freshman is to be in possession of a wonderful thing: time. There is time to figure out what you want to do with your life, time to figure out what classes you want to take, what books you want to read. There is time to make friends. You could do poorly in a class and know you had time to improve. You could mess up in your relationship and have time to make things better. With four promising years ahead of you, time sat around like huge clumps of clay, waiting for you to shape them in whatever way you pleased.
